The Mother/Daughter trip I had with Mountain Lodges of Peru was filled with beautiful scenery, cultural experiences and unique activities. There was nothing better than being able to share this with my adult daughter. Our time in Peru has left both of us with memories we will cherish forever. Life is busy and when the opportunity presents itself to make a trip happen with your children it cannot be passed up!
The Sacred Valley & Lares Adventure was perfect for the variety of experiences offered. It provided me the opportunity to follow Elli’s lead, whether it be exploring the cobblestone streets of Cusco in search of the perfect vegan restaurant or listening as she became more confident using her limited Spanish speaking skills while ordering from menus or bargaining at local markets. We started out as strangers with our fellow travelers but soon enough became friends: sharing jokes and stories, relaxing with a glass of wine in the hot tub at Lamay Lodge after a full day of hiking, and sitting around the fire pit at Huacahuasi Lodge watching the clouds float by. Disconnecting from technology also allowed us to relish each day.
This experience took us over mountains and far into remote valleys where we met locals working the fields, children running to school, and llamas and alpacas curiously checking us out as we walked along the scenic trails. This was my second trip to Peru, a country I love, and it was a joy to watch my daughter’s excitement as we let each day unfold. I am grateful to have had the chance to share this experience with her.

Traveling with my mom is one of my favorite things and I am so grateful that we have had the opportunity to see the world together. Not only have the places we’ve visited and the people we’ve met been incredible, but the memories we have created together are invaluable.
Our most recent trip to Peru was an absolute blast. MLP’s Sacred Valley & Lares Adventure was a unique and beautiful way to experience the Cusco region. Not only was the scenery stunning, but the lodges we stayed in were too! I remember how excited my mom and I were to grab a Pisco Sour and snacks and soak in the hot tub after a day of hiking. Our guides were kind, very knowledgeable and always willing to stop so we could catch our breath! Having my mom by my side as we crossed mountain ridges and waved at llamas was something I’ll never forget. I was, and still am, so proud of how she conquered those high altitude hikes! She inspires me every day.
I look at photos from our trip often and truly hope we can make it back one day soon!
